This strong title was thought to get someone attention as we continue to see the overt and covert work of Satan, the Bible says the enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy also to be mindful of the devices of the enemy.Micheal Porter's book " Kill Them Before They Grow"with the subtitle "Misdiagnosis of African American Boys in American Classrooms". Speaks of a diabolical scheme to destroy a generation that Satan has set up an evil system that is sown into every fiber and fabric of both this nations history and it's present condition. This scheme is very obvious in some places and extremely subtle in others, but its objective is to render the Body of Christ impotent and unable to come together as the community of faith is intended too.Let's go to the Word of God in Matthew 2:7-8,12-18 (NLT)<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "trebuchet ms", arial, helvetica; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;"> Then Herod called for a private meeting with the wise men, and he learned from them the time when the star first appeared. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "trebuchet ms", arial, helvetica; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;">8<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "trebuchet ms", arial, helvetica; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;"> Then he told them, “Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the child. He knew what the system of this world knows that if a generation grows up healthy physically and mentally that at the appointed time they will be able to take their rightful place in that society. The attack begins by doing all it can by removing God from the public square, and by doing so as it says in the book of Judges "they did what was right in there own eyes". The inner city becomes a place that Charles Darwin would liken to the "survival of the fittest". Many of these persons by the time they leave elementary school they have have dropped out mentally and have lost their sense of pride and purpose. Brothers and Sisters there is more than one way to kill someone you can do it with weapons, do it with words ,instilling worthlessness,through welfare. You can take away a person's spirit, identity, destroy their dream and tell them directly and indirectly they have no purpose. When this kind of attack employed is done overtly and covertly long enough and starts early enough to undo the damage will take tremendous work therapeutically and spiritually something that many of "us" are unwilling to do.I close with this, what weapon(s) has the enemy used against you, your family, your community and how is it effecting you, your family and your community. This was written as a internal look and some of the things that winked at and looked the other way ! Let's look to the hills which come our help for our help comes from the LORD ! This scheme is very obvious in some places and extremely subtle in others, but its objective is to render the Body of Christ impotent and unable to come together as the community of faith is intended too.Let's go to the Word of God in Matthew 2:7-8,12-18 (NLT) Then Herod called for a private meeting with the wise men, and he learned from them the time when the star first appeared. 8 Then he told them, “Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the child. How soon we forget Preachers, and leaders and other people who claim to know Christ.Who and will not press the issue of Bible study in the home and the CHURCH. I not trying to offend anyone but someone has to say it. We have people in the fellowship who are in leadership who truly do not believe that we should study to show ourselves approved.(if the did they would) Why do only a few show up when there is a prayer meeting, don't they KNOW the POWER of agreement "that the fervent effectual prayer avails much". Much of our relationship with God is emotional many of us to come to Church to shout, dance and be entertained by the Pastor. When we should be getting instructions on spiritual warfare. We should be coming to Church with pens, note books coming with the expectation of learning practical ways of applying the scripture to our lives.
We need balance many Christian do not see the Man of God as God's instrument, do not and will not sow into there lives the bible says 1 Timothy 5:16-17,Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching.Now with that being said the leader should not be looking riches his responsibility is look at the Christ and allow the teaching and the Holy Spirit to mold him. The largest Christian Church in the world,over the past century, the world has been witness to the growth of Christianity throughout Western and non-Western nations alike. However, few countries can rival the expansion rate demonstrated by South Korea during the last several decades. Some within the Christian church would herald the spread of the Christian faith in Korea as a remarkable achievement. Yet, one must not forget to examine the full-scope of effects that Christianity has had on the native way of life on the Korean peninsula, last time I checked the Pastor David Yonggi Cho was living in an apartment with a million members we have Pastors in the US living like "rock stars" on the backs of widows and persons on welfare as they sell the "prosperity gospel" which in no gospel at all

The Bible says in Proverbs 3:31 Do not envy the oppressor,and choose none of his ways. In USA there in Racism, Classism and Sexism, if we truly want to be free we must begin to look at these things in light of scripture.If we do our lives, families , our Churches, our ministries will never be the the same .Many African American Christians have problems with this subject of racism and to that what I say is "it is what it is." Isn't true, that that African-American where brought over in the hulls of ship by people who called Christians, " it is what it is". Isn't true that these Christians could go to Church on Sunday hang and rape on Sunday night.Isn't true that these Christians could allow the slaves to live in the worst condition and give them little or no resources for education therefore rendering the slave powerless to understand, then in conjunction with that came all the settle attacks. First he would separate the family, he picked and chose whatever woman he desired in spite of the father of those children, then he would to call them names ie. the N-word, stupid, shifless , lazy,ignorant, until they came to believe, then later the slave would embrace and begin to call themselves those same names and then assume the behavior. Let me present to some and introduce to others Jesus of Nazareth. My point is not really the issue of racism but how can we say we know Jesus and allow these things to go on and do or say nothing, we should be able to sit at the table as Christians of all races and work out our differences. Where is the conviction of the Holy Spirit ?? Proverb 3:31 Says Do not envy the oppressor,and choose none of his ways. We see the results of not doing anything reflected in the Church today, many Churches won't allow women to preach, those who do have resources look down on those who don't, the original Church in book of Acts 4:32 saysNow the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. 34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need. Brothers and Sisters I pray this message today makes all of us uncomfortable Christians of every race creed and color we have work to do , but first become a student of scripture, search the scriptures get to know the teachings Jesus Christ , allow the Holy Spirit to guide you, and by all means PRAY !!!!!AMEN
<iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=morning02-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B002Y27P3M&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">
Meet the Pastorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14545983213175476068noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1985903719577730547.post-7523941704509571482011-07-30T04:15:00.000-07:002011-07-30T04:15:02.089-07:00DO KNOW JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH ????Let Me present to some and introduce to others Jesus "The Christ" from Nazareth.
Enamored of the dazzling lights, the fickle applause of the public, the splash of success, we seldom trace the lines that led to that flimsy and fleeting pinnacle. Bitter hardship. Unfair and undeserved abuses. Loneliness and loss. Humiliating failures. Debilitating disappointments. Agony beyond comprehension suffered in the valley and crevices of the climb from bottom to top.

How shortsighted! Instead of accepting the fact that no one deserves the right to lead without first persevering through pain and heartache and failure, we resent those intruders. Then one would begin to see why Jesus of Nazareth would be born in poverty, raised in a ghetto called Nazareth at time when women had no rights and Israel would be under the control of Rome. When came into His earthly ministry and in His inaugural speech he began with these words, (Luke 4:18-19) The Spirit of the Lord has anointed to preach the "good news"to the poor.....chose 12 blue collar guys (disciples) and said( Mark 1:15)"The kingdom of God is at hand

In retrospect as a child I always wondered why I was dealt the cards that I was dealt ! Why didn't my life resemble what I saw on TV ? Why didn't I have a two parents family in the home , I knew something was wrong but not being able to put my finger on the problem. Being naiive I did not and was able to guard and protect myself from the forces that would destroy me. The overt force "the prince of the power of the air" secondly persons that James P. Carse refer to in his book "The Religious Case Against Belief". He talks about ignorance in a couple of ways one is ordinary ignorance all of us are ignorant in this way. Indeed, there is no end of the things that we do not and will not ever know in this respect ordinary ignorance is a trivial phenomenon. The second form of ignorance is a subtler and potentially far more dangerous it called willful ignorance. It is a paradoxical condition in which we are aware there is something we do not know,but choose not to know it. This expos'e is an attempt to be transparent, something that I find very obvious in the writings of the "talented tent maker from Tarsus ".(Paul)I pray that not only I would grow and mature through this experience but some other searching soul would be illuminated through the HOLY SPIRIT and move one step closer to what the Buddhism call "Nirvana" which is a state of mind and not a place. After an encounter with Jesus The Christ through a series awakenings the progressive work of sanctification through a perpetual hunger for righteous living as the writer of Hebrews states the transition from milk to meat.

Many of the Masses that call themselves Christians which mean "Christ like" who meet week after week, who pay there dues, serve on there given post, are rarely challenged to know JESUS through His Word. "In The Beginning Was The Word And The Word Was GOD", There is a part of our experience that is physical and can only be understood through the eyes of Faith. But to know GOD'S VOICE and to understand His ways can only be done through living LIFE in light of scripture. Please pray for me Darwin Micheal Harris as I pray for you !!!

For years I've lived between two selves the young man with dreams and visions of greatness and a child afraid.
In the book the "Road less Traveled"the path to destruction is broad, attractive and easy to find until it get's you in it's clutches then it becomes a roaring lion or boa constrictor whose only purpose is kill , destroy, any and everything associated me.
But There comes a time, a moment of clarity like in the story of the "prodigal son"where we must come to ourselves or die trying , a time when a man must take a stand for what he believes , he must align himself with the GOD of the scriptures. He must willing to fight with all that he knows (knowledge) how.
If your a fan of Shakespeare and the Bible you know that many of it's heroes had serious character flaws it make for a good story and teaches some important lessons. One of the greatest characters in the Bible he's called a friend of God and the Father of the FAITH Abraham had an integrity and fear issue twice he offered wife to have sex with other man because he did not trust that God could or would protect him(gen 12:11-20, gen 20:2-13) sisters imagine that the man of your dreams offering you to another man and what would that relationship be like afterward. Brother or Sister in Christ would you shout or dance and praise God with this as a testimony, would your wife tell everyone the she let another woman have her man to have a child, imagine laying in another room knowing what your husband was doing in another.

Let me leave you with this for TODAY if your fear is separating you from God , remember trials to triumph, no test no testimony, no cross no crown, that God will never ask you to do anything He can't bring to completion, even if it requires miraculous intervention on HIS PART.
If You Understand What The Spirit Is Saying ?? With it we can move mountains, receive remarkable answers to prayer, and experience the impossible. "Nothing is impossible to him that BELIEVES."
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 16.0pt;">Jesus gave us an important, unforgettable lesson on the power of faith (Mark ll). On a spring afternoon Jesus and His disciples were traveling by foot across the dry middle-east desert when they came to a lonesome fig tree. As they approached it they found nothing but leaves. Then surprisingly Jesus said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." He said it loudly enough so that His disciples heard Him.
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 16.0pt;">The next day as they began their journey back down the old familiar road, Peter saw that the fig tree had withered from the roots.
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 16.0pt;">"Rabbi!" he exclaimed. "The fig tree you cursed has withered!"
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 16.0pt;">And with that miracle Jesus began to expound on the subject of faith. "Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him."
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 16.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">It's important to note that the original Greek text reads, "Have the faith OF God." There is a subtle yet important difference between having faith IN God and having the faith OF God. You'll never move mountains by having faith in God. Many people have faith in God and are still not seeing the power of God in their lives. Circumstances are changed only when we use the faith <span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 16.0pt; font-weight: normal; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">of <span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS"; font-size: 16.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">God
<iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=morning02-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B002Y27P3M&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">
Meet the Pastorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14545983213175476068noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1985903719577730547.post-82886201649737002302011-05-16T04:31:00.001-07:002011-05-16T04:31:50.722-07:00The Truth Shall Make You ...........There was a time when the church was very powerful--in the time when the early Christians rejoiced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed. In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society. Whenever the early Christians entered a town, the people in power became disturbed and immediately sought to convict the Christians for being "disturbers of the peace" and "outside agitators."' But the Christians pressed on, in the conviction that they were "a colony of heaven," called to obey God rather than man. Small in number, they were big in commitment. They were too God-intoxicated to be "astronomically intimidated." By their effort and example they brought an end to such ancient evils as infanticide and gladiatorial contests. Things are different now. So often the contemporary church is a weak, ineffectual voice with an uncertain sound. So often it is an arch defender of the status quo. Far from being disturbed by the presence of the church, the power structure of the average community is consoled by the church's silent--and often even vocal--sanction of things as they are.But the judgment of God is upon the church as never before. If today's church does not recapture the sacrificial spirit of the early church, it will lose its authenticity, forfeit the loyalty of millions, and be dismissed as an irrelevant social club with no meaning for the twentieth century. The issue is injustice. The issue is the refusal of Memphis to be fair and honest in its dealings with its public servants, who happen to be sanitation workers. Now, we've got to keep attention on that. That's always the problem with a little violence. You know what happened the other day, and the press dealt only with the window-breaking. I read the articles. They very seldom got around to mentioning the fact that one thousand, three hundred sanitation workers were on strike, and that Memphis is not being fair to them, and that Mayor Loeb is in dire need of a doctor. They didn't get around to that.
Now we're going to march again, and we've got to march again, in order to put the issue where it is supposed to be. And force everybody to see that there are thirteen hundred of God's children here suffering, sometimes going hungry, going through dark and dreary nights wondering how this thing is going to come out. That's the issue. And we've got to say to the nation: we know it's coming out. For when people get caught up with that which is right and they are willing to sacrifice for it, there is no stopping point short of victory.
We aren't going to let any mace stop us. We are masters in our nonviolent movement in disarming police forces; they don't know what to do. I've seen them so often. I remember in Birmingham, Alabama, when we were in that majestic struggle there we would move out of the 16th Street Baptist Church day after day; by the hundreds we would move out. And Bull Connor would tell them to send the dogs forth and they did come; but we just went before the dogs singing, "Ain't gonna let nobody turn me round." Bull Connor next would say, "Turn the fire hoses on." And as I said to you the other night, Bull Connor didn't know history. He knew a kind of physics that somehow didn't relate to the transphysics that we knew about. And that was the fact that there was a certain kind of fire that no water could put out. And we went before the fire hoses; we had known water. If we were Baptist or some other denomination, we had been immersed. If we were Methodist, and some others, we had been sprinkled, but we knew water.
That couldn't stop us. And we just went on before the dogs and we would look at them; and we'd go on before the water hoses and we would look at it, and we'd just go on singing. "Over my head I see freedom in the air." And then we would be thrown in the paddy wagons, and sometimes we were stacked in there like sardines in a can. And they would throw us in, and old Bull would say, "Take them off," and they did; and we would just go in the paddy wagon singing, "We Shall Overcome." And every now and then we'd get in the jail, and we'd see the jailers looking through the windows being moved by our prayers, and being moved by our words and our songs. And there was a power there which Bull Connor couldn't adjust to; and so we ended up transforming Bull into a steer, and we won our struggle in Birmingham.
Now we've got to go on to Memphis just like that. I call upon you to be with us Monday. Now about injunctions: We have an injunction and we're going into court tomorrow morning to fight this illegal, unconstitutional injunction. All we say to America is, "Be true to what you said on paper." If I lived in China or even Russia, or any totalitarian country, maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic First Amendment privileges, because they hadn't committed themselves to that over there. But somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom of the press. Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for right. And so just as I say, we aren't going to let any injunction turn us around. We are going on.

We need all of you. And you know what's beautiful to me, is to see all of these ministers of the Gospel. It's a marvelous picture. Who is it that is supposed to articulate the longings and aspirations of the people more than the preacher? Somehow the preacher must be an Amos, and say, "Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream." Somehow, the preacher must say with Jesus, "The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to deal with the problems of the poor."
And I want to commend the preachers, under the leadership of these noble men: James Lawson, one who has been in this struggle for many years; he's been to jail for struggling; but he's still going on, fighting for the rights of his people. Rev. Ralph Jackson, Billy Kiles; I could just go right on down the list, but time will not permit. But I want to thank them all. And I want you to thank them, because so often, preachers aren't concerned about anything but themselves. And I'm always happy to see a relevant ministry.
It's alright to talk about "long white robes over yonder," in all of its symbolism. But ultimately people want some suits and dresses and shoes to wear down here. It's alright to talk about "streets flowing with milk and honey," but God has commanded us to be concerned about the slums down here, and his children who can't eat three square meals a day. I'm delighted to see each of you here tonight in spite of a storm warning. You reveal that you are determined to go on anyhow. Something is happening in Memphis, something is happening in our world.
As you know, if I were standing at the beginning of time, with the possibility of general and panoramic view of the whole human history up to now, and the Almighty said to me, "Martin Luther King, which age would you like to live in?"-- I would take my mental flight by Egypt through, or rather across the Red Sea, through the wilderness on toward the promised land. And in spite of its magnificence, I wouldn't stop there. I would move on by Greece, and take my mind to Mount Olympus. And I would see Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Euripides and Aristophanes assembled around the Parthenon as they discussed the great and eternal issues of reality.
But I wouldn't stop there. I would go on, even to the great hey day of the Roman Empire. And I would see developments around there, through various emperors and leaders. But I wouldn't stop there. I would even come up to the day of the Renaissance, and get a quick picture of all that the Renaissance did for the cultural and esthetic life of man. But I wouldn't stop there. I would even go by the way that the man for whom I'm named had his habitat. And I would watch Martin Luther as he tacked his ninety-five theses on the door at the church in Wittenberg.
But I wouldn't stop there. I would come on up even to 1863, and watch a vacillating president by the name of Abraham Lincoln finally come to the conclusion that he had to sign the Emancipation Proclamation. But I wouldn't stop there. I would even come up the early thirties, and see a man grappling with the problems of the bankruptcy of his nation. And come with an eloquent cry that we have nothing to fear but fear itself.
But I wouldn't stop there. Strangely enough, I would turn to the Almighty, and say, "If you allow me to live just a few years in the second half of the twentieth century, I will be happy." Now that's a strange statement to make, because the world is all messed up. The nation is sick. Trouble is in the land. Confusion all around. That's a strange statement. But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars. And I see God working in this period of the twentieth century in a way that men, in some strange way, are responding--something is happening in our world. The masses of people are rising up. And wherever they are assembled today, whether they are in Johannesburg, South Africa; Nairobi, Kenya: Accra, Ghana; New York City; Atlanta, Georgia; Jackson, Mississippi; or Memphis, Tennessee--the cry is always the same--"We want to be free."
And another reason that I'm happy to live in this period is that we have been forced to a point where we're going to have to grapple with the problems that men have been trying to grapple with through history, but the demands didn't force them to do it. Survival demands that we grapple with them. Men, for years now, have been talking about war and peace. But now, no longer can they just talk about it. It is no longer a choice between violence and nonviolence in this world; it's nonviolence or nonexistence.
That is where we are today. And also in the human rights revolution, if something isn't done, and in a hurry, to bring the colored peoples of the world out of their long years of poverty, their long years of hurt and neglect, the whole world is doomed. Now, I'm just happy that God has allowed me to live in this period, to see what is unfolding. And I'm happy that he's allowed me to be in Memphis.
I can remember, I can remember when Negroes were just going around as Ralph has said, so often, scratching where they didn't itch, and laughing when they were not tickled. But that day is all over. We mean business now, and we are determined to gain our rightful place in God's world.
And that's all this whole thing is about. We aren't engaged in any negative protest and in any negative arguments with anybody. We are saying that we are determined to be men. We are determined to be people. We are saying that we are God's children. And that we don't have to live like we are forced to live.
Now, what does all of this mean in this great period of history? It means that we've got to stay together. We've got to stay together and maintain unity. You know, whenever Pharaoh wanted to prolong the period of slavery in Egypt, he had a favorite, favorite formula for doing it. What was that? He kept the slaves fighting among themselves. But whenever the slaves get together, something happens in Pharaoh's court, and he cannot hold the slaves in slavery. When the slaves get together, that's the beginning of getting out of slavery. Now let us maintain unity.
Our thinking and attitudes must change if we are to grow in God (Ephesians 4:23). Many of our thinking patterns, values and priorities have been shaped by the world system and not by God. We must relearn many things. “We have the mind of Christ” legally (1 Corinthians 2:16). But to actually think Christ’s thoughts and allow Him to rule our behaviour we will need to submit to the work of the Holy Spirit so as to appropriate our inheritance in this area.

Sanctification also relates to emotional healing, or a changed heart. God wants remove all negative attitudes of despair, fear and rejection from us and give us a hopeful, joyful, faith-filled attitude. He wants to remove all bitterness and resentment from us. A person who is hurt or bitter needs to receive God’s grace so he or she can truly forgive those who have caused the hurt, and get free of every root of bitterness. Wrong heart attitudes such as pride, envy, impatience, resentment, rejection, selfishness, rebellion, independence and so on are the fruit of an unsanctified heart. A full sanctification in God will remove these wrong heart attitudes from us. Sometimes the term “inner healing” is used in relation to the sanctification of the emotions and memories in our soul.

Santification and holiness also means the development of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, and other qualities of godly character. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such there is no law.” (Galatians 5:23,24). The most important of all here is love. In fact, growth in God means growth in love, for God is love (1 John 4:8). Love is the greatest and most important quality that a Christian can have (1 Corinthians 13:13). A definition of Christian love is found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”

Comparing our lives with this description of love can give us an idea of how far we have really progressed in sanctification as God defines it.

<iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=morning02-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B002Y27P3M&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">
Meet the Pastorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14545983213175476068noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1985903719577730547.post-1924827095311287062011-03-31T10:52:00.000-07:002011-03-31T10:52:19.980-07:00Prayer Changes Things ! Intercessory prayer means praying earnestly for the needs of others, and seeking God's will for their life. We are called to intercede for others, just as Jesus is interceding for us (Hebrews 7: 25).
Prayer is a sacred responsibility, and we need to treat it as such. Samuel told the Israelites, "Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you." (1 Samuel 12:23)

Be Discreet
If you've ever had details of your personal life spread all over church, you know how devastating a little gossip can be. Here's a simple rule for any effective intercessor. Assume every prayer request offered by a friend is for your ears only, even if they don't specifically say so. If you belong to a prayer group, you might ask the person if they mind you sharing their request so others can pray, too. Even if they respond positively, refrain from telling the group any more than is necessary.

Be SensitiveOften, when people have just suffered a traumatic event, they're exhausted with having to retell their story to every person who asks. While we want to demonstrate concern for others, there's no reason to make them relive the ordeal by asking a lot of questions. All we really need to do is let them know we love them, and we're praying.

Be EncouragingAn encouraging card or a sympathetic whisper promising to pray for someone in pain can brighten a dreary day and lift a weary heart. A simple expression of concern can be an incredible source of encouragement to anyone going through a physical, spiritual, or emotional struggle. And through the week, when they become discouraged, they can remind themselves that "Someone is praying for me!"

Be Organised
So often we glibly promise to pray for someone - and we really mean it - but somehow we simply fail to do so. When you make a commitment to pray for someone, make a note of it. Amid the pressures of daily life, prayer often gets pushed to the back burner. The whispers of our conscience can be drowned by the screams of a hungry baby or the demands of a cranky boss. But no matter what your work schedule is, you can find time to pray.

Be Committed
If you consistently have trouble making time for prayer, find a partner and hold each other accountable. Even if you don't have the time to pray together, just remind each other regularly of your commitment to pray. In promising to pray for someone, you've made a sacred commitment. It's a solemn responsibility - with incredible rewards.

We cannot bring release to the post-modern mind by rejecting the very truth that will free them. We cannot bring freedom when we distort God’s method of reaching the lost (and yes I said “lost”…they really are lost.) Scripture is God’s voice speaking to us about the method and the methodology. You see the ultimate issue is once again, biblical authority! The drift away from biblical preaching to a social gospel message is ultimately a rejection of God’s authority…a rejection of His voice in Scripture.I am well aware of the good intentions; I am well aware of the enormous problems socially, politically, and sociologically for people in this deeply sinful and corrupt world. But we do not replace the gospel with a false gospel in the hope that salvation will come by social ministry. The gospel must always be preeminent because without biblical preaching no one can be saved. We can feed the poor but still be eternally lost. “If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,but do not have love, I gain nothing” (1 Corinthians 1:3). Love is, first of all, truthful. We “speak the truth in love.” God tells us the truth because He loves us. The gospel is a message first….a message of the good news of God’s offer of forgiveness and His grace to us as undeserving sinners. I must never replace that message with a works-righteousness message, no matter how good my intentions may be. We preach the message first.
It is the biblical method of proclaiming the gospel and seeing God transform lives as sins are repented of and deep changes are made in the hearts of people. With the fearless preaching of the gospel comes loving acts and social ministry. Indeed, James informs that faith without works is dead; we see the reality of our faith in the good we do in providing for the tangible needs of those in the body of Christ. We cannot have love if we see a brother in need and do nothing for him. True religion is to take care of the widows and orphans. Jesus preached the message of grace and forgiveness and healed and cast out demons and fed people as signs of His ministry and to point people to the fact that only God can save us. It is God who opens the eyes of the blind physically, but who calls us all to a first priority, to have our spiritual eyes opened by truth.Jesus came to preach the message and to send out His Apostles to do the same. He empowered them by His Spirit with signs and wonders to convince people that the message was indeed from God.The biblical purpose of the gospel is that souls would be redeemed and that in the community of faith God’s kingdom would be seen in the transformed lives of the repentant. An outflow of that are the good deeds that God has prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10).
