I LOVE GOD'S PEOPLE !!! "It's Time To Take A Stand"

There was a time when the church was very powerful--in the time when the early Christians rejoiced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed. In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society. Whenever the early Christians entered a town, the people in power became disturbed and immediately sought to convict the Christians for being "disturbers of the peace" and "outside agitators."' But the Christians pressed on, in the conviction that they were "a colony of heaven," called to obey God rather than man. Small in number, they were big in commitment. They were too God-intoxicated to be "astronomically intimidated." By their effort and example they brought an end to such ancient evils as infanticide and gladiatorial contests. Things are different now. So often the contemporary church is a weak, ineffectual voice with an uncertain sound. So often it is an arch defender of the status quo. Far from being disturbed by the presence of the church, the power structure of the average community is consoled by the church's silent--and often even vocal--sanction of things as they are.
But the judgment of God is upon the church as never before. If today's church does not recapture the sacrificial spirit of the early church, it will lose its authenticity, forfeit the loyalty of millions, and be dismissed as an irrelevant social club with no meaning for the twentieth century. Every day I meet young people whose disappointment with the church has turned into outright disgust.

Martin Luther King (excerpt)

People of God, I'm revisiting this writing because we must look at Jesus and the New Testament Church en view of it's original intent. As we bring Jesus into the 21st century, we examine the  cultural impact that He had on women, non-Jews, and the poor. We should be ashamed and convicted! The New Testament Christians spoke "truth to power"and there was genuine "unity" in the body.
I believe it's time for US to take spiritual inventory of ourselves  through  and from the platform of LOVE.

Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2  Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3  Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4  Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5  Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6  The LORD executes righteousness
And justice for all who are oppressed.
7  He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
8  The LORD is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
9  He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10  He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.
11  For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12  As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13  As a father pities his children,
So the LORD pities those who fear Him.
14  For He knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.
15  As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16  For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
And its place remembers it no more.
17  But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
On those who fear Him,
And His righteousness to children's children,
18  To such as keep His covenant,
And to those who remember His commandments to do them.
19  The LORD has established His throne in heaven,
And His kingdom rules over all.
20  Bless the LORD, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, who do His word,
Heeding the voice of His word.
21  Bless the LORD, all you His hosts,
You ministers of His, who do His pleasure.
22  Bless the LORD, all His works,
In all places of His dominion.
Bless the LORD, O my soul!

An Echo From The PAST ! part 2

"Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." Was not Amos an extremist for justice: "Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever flowing stream." Was not Paul an extremist for the Christian gospel: "I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus." Was not Martin Luther an extremist: "Here I stand; I cannot do otherwise, so help me God." And John Bunyan: "I will stay in jail to the end of my days before I make a butchery of my conscience." And Abraham Lincoln: "This nation cannot survive half slave and half free." And Thomas Jefferson: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal . . ." So the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be. Will we be extremists for hate or for love? Will we be extremists for the preservation of injustice or for the extension of justice? In that dramatic scene on Calvary's hill three men were crucified. We must never forget that all three were crucified for the same crime--the crime of extremism. Two were extremists for immorality, and thus fell below their environment. The other, Jesus Christ, was an extremist for love, truth and goodness, and thereby rose above his environment.

Martin Luther King (letter from Birmingham Jail)

Many ministers say: "Those are social issues, with which the gospel has no real concern." And I have watched many churches commit themselves to a completely other worldly religion which makes a strange, un-Biblical distinction between body and soul, between the sacred and the secular.

An Echo From The PAST ! Has Anything Really "CHANGED" !

Yes, these questions are still in my mind. In deep disappointment I have wept over the laxity of the church. But be assured that my tears have been tears of love. There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love. Yes, I love the church. How could I do otherwise? I am in the rather unique position of being the son, the grandson and the great grandson of preachers. Yes, I see the church as the body of Christ. But, oh! How we have blemished and scarred that body through social neglect and through fear of being nonconformists.
There was a time when the church was very powerful--in the time when the early Christians rejoiced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed. In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society. POINT TO PONDER !!!

Any religion that professes to be concerned about the souls of men and fails to be concerned about the economic conditions that corrupt them, the social conditions that damn them, the city governments that cripple them, is a dry, dead, do-nothing religion in need of new blood." - Martin Luther King Jr.,

I am truly excited because through our union with Boston Praise Radio and Glory Star Satellite we will have internet global access, which will allow us to share the Power of God with listeners around the world.

VICTORY IN CHRIST ! part 3

Remember, Jesus said to those disciples who had believed on Him, "If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:31,32) We cannot overemphasize the importance of truth. It is the difference between honestly and dishonesty, right and wrong, and often the difference between success and failure, or life and death. We are not satisfied with anything less than the truth in science, finance, or in that which we are told by our friends. If we learn that some business house has dealt with us dishonestly even to a small degree we will shun that place in the future.
Truth is even more important where the welfare of our souls is involved. Only the truth of God can make us free. The truth leads to our sanctification, that is, the setting our ourselves apart to God and His service. Jesus prayed: "Sanctify them in Thy truth; Thy word is truth." (John 17:17) Christ Himself is the personification of truth, and He spoke of Himself as "the Way, The Truth, and the Life." (John 14:6) Then He affirmed that no one can come to the Father but by Him. Jesus has made it clear that the truth He taught, the truth He came to this earth to bring from the Father, is the only means for the salvation of our souls. How we ought to love that truth, seek to understand it, and to live by it!
The search for truth is a lifelong challenge. This is especially true of our search for the truth of God's word, for we are surrounded by so many different religious philosophies, and there are so many people who are willing to pervert or alter the truth - some to try to justify themselves in some unrighteousness which they enjoy, to justify their attempts to obtain some kind of ungodly gain, or for other reasons. We must remember that error is in the world, and we must guard against it. Jesus came and died for humanity to make it clear that it does make a difference what we believe. The very fact that God has given us the Bible is evidence that He wants us to study it, learn its truth, and abide in it. Jesus has promised that those who follow Him, walking in His word, shall know the truth and thereby be made free from sin. In Deuteronomy 4:2 God commanded His people by Moses: "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish ought from it. that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you." Proverbs 30:6 and Revelation 22:18,19 teach the same solemn truth regarding the seriousness of our altering God's word. Galatians 1:6-9 and 2 John 9-11 declare the curse of God upon any who refuses to abide in the teaching of Christ. Let us therefore not deceive ourselves into thinking it is not important that we study to know and obey God's truth.!!

VICTORY IN CHRIST ! part 2

 For when our lives are directed by the Lord's truth, we are going to be recipients of His blessings. He will look upon us with favor and cause us to prosper. To paraphrase Psalm 33:12, David wrote: "The nation whose God is the Lord will be blessed". Allow me to show you why this is true. When we live by the principles of truth we are not bound by Satan. The application of truth will eliminate social as well as moral evils. Sin is what leads to drunkenness, fornication, adultery, idolatry, homosexuality, lasciviousness, and all other forms of immorality.
Truth will lead men and women, boys and girls to love one another. To the extent that we love one another, we shall also respect each other's rights and privileges. Jesus said when asked about the first commandment, "The first of all the commandments is, Hear, 0 Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength, this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" Mark 12 :30,31 .
When we have love for God and our neighbor, it will necessitate living by the principle found in the Golden Rule, "Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them" Matthew 7:12. Or as we have coined the thought: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Such behavior will contribute to peaceful relationships. It will also demand honest dealings. The Bible says, "Provide things honest in the sight of all men" Romans 12:17. The application of the Golden Rule will cause us to have respect for law and order. This style and quality of living will always lead to the blessings of the Lord. We must understand that freedom is not something that can be legislated. It cannot be guaranteed by maintaining large armies or police forces. It comes when men and women submit to the will of the Lord.
May I call your attention to the prophet Elisha and his servant, while in the land of Dothan. The Syrian army had surrounded the city to take them captive. Elisha asked God to open the eyes of his servant. The Lord opened his eyes and he looked and the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around (II Kings 6). God had the prophet say to his servant, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them" 2 Kings 6:16. We are reminded of the words of Paul, when he asked, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31.
If we walk in truth and worship in truth, we have nothing to fear. We shall be free people in the Lord.

VICTORY IN CHRIST !

Only The Truth Shall Make You Free!!!

Freedom is a most precious possession. Every creature desires and enjoys its freedom. Place a worm or an insect in a jar and it will work to get free. Put a dog on a leash and restrain him in one place and he will howl and bark to be set free. We humans are no different. We do not want our liberties tampered with.
On one occasion, Jesus said to the Jews who believed in Him, "If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:31,32. The key to genuine freedom is found in the phrase; "continue in my word". Jesus says we come to know the truth by continuing in His teachings, and truth is that which will liberate us or make us free. The problem we are faced with has been expressed by the Pop Artist who chanted: "Put your hand in the hand of the man who stills the waters". The beat and the lyrics were good enough to push the tune into the top ten for a while. But most of us found the sentiment too naive by which to live. Instead, we keep on trying to put our hands and our hopes in the Gross National Product, the Dow-Jones averages, and Wall Street.
